Lisa Brinkman (Studio #33)

Most mornings I find inspiration with a jog along the river, under a canopy of the oak, cedar, and conifers in my W.L..neighborhood. The lush green growth here serves as a reminder of the interconnected life that sustains us all.

This daily ritual mirrors my artistic process. I begin with botanical eco-prints from plants like oak, maple, and sumac, steaming them onto raw silk. These prints form the foundation of my work, sparking a dialogue with life. Through painting, I tell stories that honor our shared connections—humanity, nature, and animals—each part of a delicate web.

My art often reaches toward the sky, reflecting solar and lunar cycles and the disrupted rhythms of seasons, driven by climate change. In my eco-printed paintings, plants, animals, and celestial bodies act as symbols of our search for meaning in these turbulent times. At its heart, my work celebrates the mystery of interconnectedness and the spirit of this sacred land, the ancestral home of the Kalapuya people.
