⭐️ Cindy Sullivan (Board Secretary)
Painting
Cindy’s body of paintings are inspired from childhood memories and photographs that capture extended family, events and the memorable characters that colored her world from the 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Life back then felt unhurried, grounded and slow like a crockpot. Embracing and reflecting on the good times are at the core of her art and helps her to remember what’s truly important in my life.
Grandma Moses was the first artist who influenced her heart with her honest and innocent narrative of life on the farm. Like her, Cindy is self-taught and began her painting career in mid-life. Cindy heavily dabbled in mosaics for a decade yet for her painting feels more fixed and solid. She’s been fortunate to have her very first paintings acknowledged in shows which has further spurred her forward. Other artists that continue to influence her are Alice Neel and Milton Avery.

Ceramics
Ushi Pottery creates functional minimalistic pieces for everyday life guided by the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai -- meaning "a reason for being" or "what makes life worth living". For me, Ikigai has always meant Creativity and now I have the opportunity to share my passion for ceramics while honoring my Japanese heritage. I celebrate the handmade, allowing the clay body to guide the form. My aesthetic embraces imperfection and raw beauty, much like nature.
