Doug Moore(Studio #15)
As a heavy equipment mechanic and welder I learned how to work with and weld metal. My journey into art started with making things for my wife’s flower garden. It progressed to making things for her friends than just got bigger from there. I have used the metalworking skills to create art in several forms. I make simple silhouettes to be displayed outdoors that can be painted or allowed to rust naturally. I also use grinding and heat to create colors and form in the steel for effect, clear coating the pieces to preserve the work. It is fun to be creative in making pieces that can be displayed either indoors or outdoors. I make metal art pieces in every size from garden trellises to little hummingbirds. It is a challenge to come up with things that are uniquely my own.I sincerely hope that you enjoy the pieces that I create as much as I do.
