Much of his current work uses basalt from the Columbia River Gorge, which combines elegant curves with smooth planes and crisp edges. The natural surfaces are painted with earth tones and patterns in iron oxide, which contrast with the dark polished surfaces. Ian also works with colorful rhyolite and welded tuff from Eastern Oregon.

INGRID DOHM
Acrylic, Watercolor
STUDIO 4: 460 2nd St, Suite 459A, Lake Oswego
Ingrid Dohm’s paintings capture the intensity and the very essence of her relationship to art. Floral images, from her earliest childhood, have always remained the linchpin that would lead her to further explorations for her artistic expressions. Ingrid has seriously attempted other avenues of expression, such as portraits and abstract painting, but personal satisfaction has always eluded her. Even in painting landscapes, a floral image may crop up here or there and often overtake it to become a floral landscape or a floral garden landscape. Still life suffers the same fate.

JIM WYLDER
Ceramic
STUDIO 30: 461 SW Alderwood Dr. West Linn
Jim Wylder has been sifting materials and ideas to find his voice. For Jim, materials and processes are always at the service of ideas. The storage jar is thrown on the pottery wheel in a three-hour session. Slowly the form is developed in a throw/fan dry cycle to completion. Paper is added to the clay in a ratio of 25 grams of paper to 25 pounds of clay. This mix is similar to adobe and is very strong. Handling of the pottery will reveal a pleasantly light form with a tactile surface.

KASEY WANFORD
Acrylic, Mixed Media, Digital
STUDIO 26: 18483 Ray Ridge Dr. Lake Oswego

The primary goal is to uncover a hidden world or a feeling. Later, thoughtful refinement brings everything together to make something finished. The same process happens for her digital abstract art, although it comes together much more quickly and spontaneously.

During the pandemic, a more conscious attempt at pure abstraction has been his focus. These too have a feeling of landscape, even though his intentions are more formal. Mixed Media, Oil, Bronze
STUDIO 25: 17802 Hillside Way, Lake Oswego
Rose Walsh’s current body of work deals with a delicate process of remembering something of value. Process is paramount, and these pieces are created in layers, just as memories are layered one over the other. This journey began for her with the experience of not being able to recall her mother’s face. She has spent considerable time contemplating the phenomena of memory, the unseen, and sometimes the unknowable, and how that is expressed in art. such as house, paint, gold, and She uses materials such as metal leaf and reflective mylar in her paintings in bronze, and the loss wax techniques in her bust and face sculptures, have symbolic meaning relating to her childhood home, of church, she attended, as well as, people of some of whom I can’t quite remember.
Rose is sharing Studio 25 with Janis Snyder.

She loves being surprised by what happens to the paint, and then enjoys the challenge of trying to make it work with artistic harmony while keeping the liveliness from which it began. TOM WILLING
Woodworking
STUDIO 2: 1232 Andrews Rd. Lake Oswego
It has been over 50 years since Oregon artist Tom Willing created his first woodturning in his father’s wood shop. Since then, he has come to focus on pieces that are sensitive to the interplay between light, form, and material. “Working with both native and exotic species of woods, I seek to find the visual magic within the form of each piece of timber that is waiting to be revealed.” In addition to his sculptural display work, he designs pieces that combine the aesthetic and functional, such as bowls, pepper grinders, and platters. Willing’s work is elegantly finished on the lathe with walnut oil and beeswax, then buffed to bring out the natural luster of the wood.
Tom is sharing Studio 2 with Mary Burgess.
