Sara Swink

Ceramics, Sculpture

I make clay human and animal figures with a psychological stance. My hand-built sculptural work imparts ideas through fragments of narrative, often with a humorous edge. I use collage to gather inspiration, developing ideas through sketching on paper and in clay. One idea leads to another in an endless progression of personal narrative that reflects and feeds my inner life. I use a gritty sculpture clay, incise into the clay, bisque fire, finish with oxides, underglazes and glazes, then fire to cone 5/6.

I moved to Oregon in 2006, where I established Clay Circle Studio, and continue to show nationally and teach locally. In 2013, I was featured on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s “Oregon Art Beat.”

Harold Oxley

Painting, Mixed Media

My work reflects expressive picture making with conventional imagery in combination with using the abundant deleterious detritus from the feeling thinking side of the human experience. I believe that all my work is primarily a self-portrait.

Ceramics, Paper Art

This is my full-circle moment—a joyful return to making, and creating.

For decades, I doodled everywhere: margins, napkins, whatever was within reach. Then life filled up with meetings and memos, and the pen got quiet.

In my endless search for the perfect black pen (still looking), I found my way back.

Now I’m sketching again—this time bringing those whimsical lines off the page and into ceramics. Ink in one hand, clay in the other.

Ink or Swim Designs is my journey to joy. It’s part leap, part lifeline—a little messy, a little whimsical, and entirely a homecoming.

Holly Omlin-Ruback

Ceramics, Sculpture

I love the challenge of ceramics as a medium to express ideas and thoughts that come to me through memories of my childhood and of nature experiences throughout my life. Often my work begins with collage, or, walks in the woods, or, looking through old photographs and reminiscing with friends and family. Memories of my family and the farm that I was raised on and the natural world of the Pacific Northwest continue to inspire me and find their way into my stacking sculptures or standalone pieces.

Bunny Cramer Carter

Ceramics

I am a ceramic artist located in Lyons, Oregon. My passion lies in hand-building. My studio, known as Bear Cat Studio, is where I spend time experimenting with underglazes, surface textures, tools and clay. I fire to midrange with a variety of clays. Ceramics satisfies my love of learning, diving deep into the why of things. Alchemy, biology, science, history, and chemistry. It’s all there in ceramics. My inspiration includes: many of the animals I have had in my lifetime, a lifetime of memories and studying the work of ancient artists.

With the uncertainty of our times it seems layers of doubt and exhaustion are added every day. I have leaned heavily into ceramics for comfort and stability. I hope my pieces can bring others some calm and peace as well.
