Policies for participating artists

Prior to submitting your registration, please read the rules, requirements, and important information. Also review our website page titled “ For Artists” for the latest information.

Eligibility

Lake Oswego Open Studios is open to 2-D and 3-D artists creating works of original design who have a studio or gallery space located in Lake Oswego or West Linn. While artists outside (guest artists*) this area are welcome to register, participation is subject to approval by Lake Oswego Open Studios and may be dependent upon host studio availability. Guest artist *payment is not required until a host studio has been assigned. 

If you live outside Lake Oswego or West Linn boundaries and have questions about eligibility, or if you have questions about being hosted at another artist’s studio, please email us at lakeoswegoopenstudios@gmail.com.

All artists participating in the tour must register and pay the appropriate fee. As an artist submitting this registration form, you are agreeing to:

  • Ensure the majority of work on display for purchase is original art created by you. If commercial reproductions are available, the pieces must be clearly labeled as such

  • Open your studio to the public from 10am to 5pm both days of the studio tour (Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, September 28); Friday, September 26, 4-7pm First Look: Friday Studio Opening is Optional*.

  • Discuss and demonstrate your creative process with visitors. Bonus for patrons: hands-on projects

  • Provide 4 high-quality images, 3 should be representative of the work you will be showing at the studio tour, and one should be a photo of you in your studio or in front of your work 

  • Provide an artist statement of 100 words or less

  • Attend the artist meetings:

    • Monday, June 2 at 6pm we will host a virtual meeting to review high-level event information. Meeting notes will be available for those unable to attend and will be found shortly after the meeting on our “For Artists” page on the website.

    • Sunday, June 29 at 1pm we will host an in-person “artists’ meet and greet” to  distribute signs, print materials, share tips for a great event, and get to know other artists.  If you are unable to attend, it is your responsibility to coordinate with another participant who can pick up your materials for you.

  • Actively promote Lake Oswego Open Studios via social media, email, postcards, flyers, and other marketing channels

  • Collect visitor information such as customer emails, visitor counts, and promote our PASSPORT PROGRAM during the tour and share this information with Lake Oswego Open Studios to assist us in future planning and promotional efforts

  • Participate in a post tour survey to help us plan future tours

Payment via Zelle or check is preferred to keep help us reduce costs. Online Credit Card payment is also available for your convenience.

Cancellation Policy

If you have to cancel your participation for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible. Notice of cancellation must be received in writing. 50% of the registration fee will be refunded to artists canceling on or before May 15, 2024. Cancellations after May 15, 2025 will not receive a refund.

Benefits to Participating Artists

In exchange for the participation fee, artists will:

  1. Be eligible to participate in the 2025 Lake Oswego Open Studios tour 

  2. Have their studio location listed on our print and online maps 

  3. Have their images, artist statement, web links, and social media accounts promoted via the Lake Oswego Open Studios website and social media channels 

  4. Attend networking opportunities with fellow artists and the community

  5. Receive promotional materials in print and digital formats (such as postcards, flyers, and lawn signs) 

  6. Be considered for inclusion in advertising campaigns such as ads, postcards and flyers

  7. Benefit from other Lake Oswego Open Studios outreach activities…2025 ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES:
